Academic Excellence In A Christian Environment
CornerStone Christian Academy and Tykes Preschool embrace the development of the whole child. We provide academic excellence upon Biblical principles and cultivate a loving environment with Christian values. We prepare our students to become confident and productive world citizens who are ready to be used by God for every good work.
Building strong families for Christ through academic excellence in a Christian environment from generation to generation.
The philosophy of education at CornerStone Christian Academy and Tykes Preschool begins with an understanding that all truth is ultimately God’s truth. Teachers at CornerStone seek to integrate the principles of God’s Word throughout the entire program as a way to develop students’ interpersonal responsibility and academic preparedness. As students are equipped, they will embrace the life skills needed to impact the world in ministry, college and career paths.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Our school is open Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 6pm. Instruction occurs between 8:15am and 3pm. A before and after school program is available for students who stay beyond the regular school day.
Every teacher at CornerStone comes from a Christian background and is actively living a life filled with Christ. Our motto is “Academic Excellence in a Christian Environment”, and we take this motto to heart in the daily operations of Cornerstone. There is Chapel for all grades every week, and scripture memorization is an important part of our curriculum. Many teachers have expressed their happiness in being able to pray openly with their students so that they may help provide them with a strong Christian foundation. We do not teach denominationally or focus on a specific doctrine; instead, we focus on pure Christian values.
Students are eligible for priority admission to the Academy based upon the following:

"We like the small intimate setting and the class sizes. The children are in a more sheltered, innocent environment." - Adam and Michelle G
Cornerstone reserves the right to determine whether or not we can accommodate the special needs of a child. We will be able to accommodate special needs only if the child’s needs can be met through means of full inclusion and functionality within the classroom environment. If a child has already been determined and diagnosed as having special needs, or has an IEP/ISFP, this information must be presented to the director upon enrollment. Special needs categorization includes aggressive or disruptive behavior issues. Determination of whether or not a child’s needs can be accommodated will be at the discretion of the Director or Principal.
CornerStone Christian Academy follows the Nevada State age entrance requirements that entering Kindergartners must be 5, and 1st graders must be 6 by September 30th.
EQUAL PROTECTION CLAUSE
CornerStone Christian Academy Tykes Preschool admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.and they must be willing to conduct their lives in conformity with the school’s statement of faith and the school’s declaration and agreement to ethical and moral integrity.
DEDICATION TO SECURITY
CornerStone is a closed campus with a dedication to security. All visitors must check in through the office and receive a visitor’s badge. We utilize a security tool called “LobbyGuard”, which scans visitor’s driver’s license against a database of convicted child predators throughout the nation and alerts the front office if a visitor is flagged.
In preschool, children are encouraged to use their self-help skills and are taught to pour their own cereal and milk, serve themselves fruit, and to get their own beverages during the designated snack-time provided twice daily.
We also provide an onsite “A” rated cafeteria that prepares fresh and healthy lunch options for the children each day. Lunch packages and can be purchased monthly, or students may choose to bring a sack lunchbag lunch from home.
In the spirit of involvement, parents are welcome to dine with their children in either our bookstore café or cafeteria at lunchtime.
FIELD TRIPS CLASS PARTIES
Field trips can be fun and educational. We encourage our teachers to plan up to four off-site field trips annually. They also celebrate four class parties each year and parents are encouraged to participate in the both the planning and the fun!
ADDITIONAL TALENT RESOURCES
In addition to superbly dedicated teachers, the school also has an on-site, full-time nurse and speech pathologist. These resources are typically not part of the staff of other schools and we take pride in the fact that our staff has such exceptional and trained resources as part of our school.
